Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone as Neil Copeland marks 20 years with Mackworth Vehicle Conversions!
Neil’s journey began in 2006 at the Siemens site in Derby, where he joined as a Vehicle Conversion Specialist. The very first vehicles he worked on were welfare vehicle conversions for Dean & Dyball, before going on to build vehicles for customers including National Grid, Amey and Siemens itself.
After five years at the Siemens premises, the business became part of Imperial Commercials Derby in 2011. Neil was one of the people who made the move and helped establish a brand-new workshop, laying the foundations for what has grown into today’s Mackworth Vehicle Conversions.
Just a year later, Neil was promoted to Team Leader…
…working alongside then Workshop Manager Andrew Willetts as the business continued to expand. Over the past two decades, he’s seen Mackworth grow from a much smaller operation into the thriving manufacturer it is today. This includes the move into our purpose-built facility and the significant expansion of both the workshop and the team.
"Today I oversee around 90% of the work that goes through the van workshop. Every day brings a different challenge, whether that’s finding solutions for a build or helping my colleagues reach their full potential. And, that’s what keeps the job interesting.”
Neil’s story reflects everything that makes Mackworth special: loyalty, craftsmanship, teamwork and a commitment to continually improving. His experience has helped shape the business over the last 20 years. We’re incredibly grateful for everything he continues to do.
